A. Masonry - The art, skill, or occupation of a mason; the art or work of building with stone. Now Rare. That which is constructed by a mason; work executed by a mason; stonework.
B. Restoration - (Arch). The process of carrying out alterations and repairs with the idea of restoring a building to something like its original form; a general renovation. If you visited our History page, you know by now that this Company was founded as a masonry restoration contractor with a rich heritage of providing these specialized services on buildings throughout historic New England - including Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island. Churches, monuments, landmarks, brick smokestacks, schools, office buildings and practically any structure that was constructed with brick or stone were a passion of our founders and provided the very foundation our Company is built on today. We are proud of this heritage and strive to blend the benefits of today's new technology with these skills from the past.

Our masonry repair and restoration services are further enhanced by our engineering staff and product affiliates with a combined 85 years of experience in the evaluation of bricks, stones and mortars and the research abilities to discover hard to find information pertaining to your particular needs for your Historic Structure.  We work with local, state, and federal historic commissions throughout New England to provide historically accurate repairs on the various types of buildings.

On behalf of the Board of Commissioners, I would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere appreciation for your work on the Sagadahoc County Courthouse Restoration Project. The professionalism, patience, dedication to quality, skill and knowledge displayed by you and your workmen were outstanding; in fact, I can honestly state that Knowles Corporation is by far the best contractor with whom I have ever worked!

The scope of this project was much greater than originally anticipated and your willingness to assist with problem solving and finding financial options enabled us to overcome that hurdle. And your unfailing courtesy to our employees and citizens; your insistence on maintaining the integrity of your work; and your prompt communications are but a few of the reasons for the success of this undertaking.

We are extremely pleased with the appearance of the Courthouse, and we thank you once again for making this a successful project for the citizens of Sagadahoc County.
